Light art in the dark

It was time for Lux Helsinki again!
My friend and I braved the -17C (-26 with wind chill...) weather for a lovely hour admiring the light installations. (You can read more of them here.)

It was so cold even my camera thought I was kidding by taking it out...

The presidential palace was pink.... :)

My favorite was this black lit Flowers of Life.
It was simply magical.

This one had a lovely steampunkish feel.

We finally made our way to our favorite café for tea and cake.
And warmth.. oohhh lovely warmth..

Pretty in pink

At the beginning of every summer I start thinking of which unvisited corners of my city I want to go photograph.
On Mother's Day we went to the eastern side to see the Roihuvuori Cherry Park.
I've been meaning to go so many years, this year I started tracking when the blooms would be best.

We opted to go in the evening as I'm sure it had been blanketed with picnicking people on such a beautiful day. At golden hour, it was filled with photographers :)

It's like cotton candy splashed with golden light.

Lux Helsinki

One of my favorite events in town is Lux Helsinki in January.
It's dark pretty much night and day, but for a few days you get glorious light installations.

In the past years it had been scattered here and there, but this year there was a route.
It was quite chilly. And snowing. Also, way too many people.
Lesson learned, next year I'll go on the Thursday right after work :)

I'll let the photos speak.

This installation suffered from the crowds, people kept blocking the lights that shone on the wire people.

Pill city.
Can you see what it's made of?
As this park is an old cemetery, I found this exit sign quite funny.
