Yes, I watched :)

Parts of it. At work.

With a bunch of 7-8 yr olds...

Here are some highlights:

  • Oooooohhhh.. she's pretty!

  • Why are the little girls there?

  • Whose the prince?

  • ..oh..really? That's him?

  • So then whose the queen?

  • She doesn't have a crown.. (sounding disappointed)

  • She's his grandma?!!

  • Why is this so long?

  • How come he's a prince?

  • Oh, I'm in a choir too! Why do they have such high collars? Doesn't it tickle? I'd be just jumping up and down scratching..

  • Who's that? (the bishop)

  • Why are they all wearing hats?

  • Where did they go?

  • Is that a hat?? (Princess Eugenie's..umm.. hat.. I think..)

  • So what was your biggest dream as a kid? I want to have an ice cream shop!

  • LOOK! THAT'S THE BRITISH FLAG!

  • Does the queen own all the horses? She must have a big stable..

  • WHAT ARE THOSE???! (the churchbells)

  • COOL.

  • THAT'S BIG BEN! I know that place!

  • ...heheheeee... there's poop on the road... (the sand)

  • Why are the little girls in the horse carriage?

  • Oh there's the crown! (on top of the Queen's carriage)

  • THAT'S BUCKINGHAM PALACE!

  • I saw those soldiers changing guard, they walked like this (marches around the room holding an imaginary rifle)

At this point we turned the wedding off, and a film on for the kids. I was trying to hold back my giggles so badly... Really, they should have every royal wedding commentated by kids.

*grin*

I saw the kiss at home ;)

From brass to schnazzy!

I've had this chandelier since my teen years.
Pretty. Yes.

I'm just not a big fan of brass these days.

So I went out and bought some spraypaint.

I hung it up on an appletree branch.

And sprayed.

Primer and paint.

Once I finished and it had dried, I started hanging back the crystals.

All 102 of them!

I could see people coming from voting at the local school across the street (we have parliamentary elections today) and I'm sure more than a few thought what on earth I was doing..

Personally I think every garden needs a chandelier ;)

Doesn't that look so much better now?

This will be in our office/my studio soon :D

Vielä mahtuu mukaan 7.5.2011!

Yksityiskohdat löytyvät tämän linkin takaa :D

Mukaan vaan!

More crochet...

First it was the granny square.. then the flower :)

I made myself a funky bracelet from the first three tiered flower I mastered... that too, was easier than I thought! I ended up braiding three crocheted long strings together to go around my wrist. To jazz it up, I sewed on a bunch of pretty green buttons.

Cute little pouches

One Saturday evening not so long ago, I dug out some old fabric scraps from my stash, grabbed a couple zippers and sewed up something cute.

This one already has a happy new owner, it was a good-bye present to a work mate.

For this one I used part of an old crocheted doily.

It is sitting pretty in my gift pile. :)

Just because...

..while digging through my box of patterned paper scraps I came across one that says: every drop makes a difference..

So naturally I had to cover my small purse sized water bottle label with it and loads of colorful paper scraps.

Took all of ten minutes, but it sure looks cute now.

Something growing on my desk

After finding this image on Pinterest (oh and that is a whole other subject.. if you haven't taken a look and are crafty in any way, do so... I can even give you an invite if you'd wish. Just one word of warning.. it is HIGHLY addictive! ;) ) I just had to crochet this little slipcover for my pencil jar. It looks so dapper now.

I also have this new fly argaric mushroom growing on my desk... I saw something similar on Etsy and was going to buy it, but someone managed to snag it from right under my nose.. so I opted for the airdrying clay...

Its' real duty is to be the place I put my jewelry, before I take them upstairs to their real home in the jewelry box.

Yes, there is just ONE earring.. I've managed to misplace its' pair while cleaning up my desk.. how is that for irony! :P

Birthday cake fun..

Our little monkey turns two today. Julia's party was on saturday and I promised to bake a monkey cake for my dear niece. The recipe is from Martha Stewart.

Julia saw her cake and yelled "APA!" (monkey in swedish) and then let out a big laugh :D

She's such a fun little girl.

Our sweet monkey.

(we filled the cake with lemon quark and fresh strawberries...yum...)

We brought Niina's old play stove and to go with it: pots and pans and felt food I had made.

You can see which ones I made first, I used the blanket stitch, I then thre that one out and went for the whipstitch. Waaaaayyyyy faster.

I only had a pattern for the ice cream.. found that on Oneprettything.com. For the rest I googled pictures of felt food and just winged it.

It was a big hit.

I'm pretty sure she'll be cooking up a storm :)

Stadi Scrap osa 3 :D

No vielä saatiin yksi päivä tälle keväälle! Eli tervetuloa jälleen kerran koko päiväksi leikkimään:

7.5.2011

klo 10-19

-Missä?-

Paikka on Englantilainen koulu Helsingin Meilahdessa, Mäntytie 14. Kadunvarsiparkkitilaa on koulun ympärillä.

Klikkaa tästä , niin löydät kartan.

-Maksaako se jotain?-

Sisäänpääsymaksua ei ole :)

-Voinko tuoda lapset?-

Ainoa toive on, että sylivauvaa suuremmat lapsukaiset jäisivät kotiin hoitoon, jotta äiditkin saisivat stressivapaata laatuaikaa hyvässä seurassa.

-Kun nälkä iskee-

Tarjoamme aamukahvit, kuka ilmoittautuu vapaaehtoiseksi tuomaan kahvileipää?

Voit bongata sieltä itsellesi jotain omalle sivullesi sopivaa. Vaihtopöytä on ollut erittäin toimiva, viimeksi sieltä päätyi paljon omille sivuille!

-Miten ilmoittaudun?-

Tilaan mahtuu reilu 30 skräppääjää. Ilmoittaudu laittamalla sähköpostia minulle: susanna.tunturi@dlc.fi . Saat paluuviestissä tarkemmat yhteystiedot.

Lemon yellow...

Yesterday there was lemon yellow only on my umbrella...

The good thing about the rain was that it really helped to melt the snow. Well, not ALL of it.. but as we are getting more rain, it looks promising :)

Today the sun was shining prettily and by the time I got home I felt like baking something yummy. I decided on lemon blueberry crumble bars. I thought I'd share with you the little trick I use when grating lemon zest. I hate trying to get the stuck zest off the grater, so I cut a little piece of parchment paper on top and grate away.

Once your done (it'll take just two lemons, then you'll have to change it), simply peel it away and scrape off all that zest that would otherwise be stuck on your grater :)

Oooohhh yes.. they turned out sooo good!

I used this recipe :)

Signs of spring

April? Seriously? There's still soooo much snow on the ground..sigh...

However the sun is distinctly more warm. And the first freckles have come out ;)

There are also other giveaways.. like these daffodils in a pot brightening my kitchen.

And tulips, tulips, tulips!

There is hope that the snow and ice will melt.

And there is this :)

Someone's summer Chevy on the road.. so to speak :D
