OK.
So truthfully, it's knitting season year round for me.
I need to have busy hands.
Besides, I love it.
I enjoy finding new patterns and learning something new in the process.
Niina got a happy scarf.
makes you smile doesn't it?
There it is, all rolled up and pretty.
Along with a pair of socks.
Love self-striping yarn.
I've also finished these green socks for her.
Her foot grew two sizes this year.
TWO SIZES!
I had to make her new pairs as I inherited all her old ones :D
We won't even talk about how much she's grown lenghtwise.
It's ridiculous.
Althought I wasn't laughing exiting the clothes' shops...
These socks I started three times, as her foot is long and narrow and I couldn't get the sock to fit.
Until I thought of going on with the ribbing on top.
Worked like a charm.
These were knitted before those striped ones.. by then I knew the trick.
As I don't need to make myself socks, I decided to try making mittens.
I've never made a pair.
I don't really know why..
Although I'm figuring it out.
Making the first was easy peasy..ish.. there was a learning curve.
But then my instructions just said to make the second one in reverse.
Apparently my brain can't handle mirror images.
But I'm finally past the worst bit.
Didn't help that I'm using seed stitch to knit these.
I'm a sucker for variegated yarn.
This one is so soft.
I admit to being the same kind of knitter as I am a reader.
I might have two or even three books going on at once.
One in my purse, for bus rides.
One next to my bed...
I've been working on the mittens at work.
So at home I picked up some left over yarns and started knitting this chevron striped scarf.
It will also incorporate the left over yarn from the mittens.
Here's the yarn I'll be using for a hat to complete the set.
The colors should look great with my dark grey coat.
And then..
I hadn't planned this.
But.
I've been wanting to work with the japanese Noro-yarn for a while now.
But it is just outrageously priced here.
Almost 30€ for a 100 grams.
I've drooled over it plenty, but there was no way I could justify the price.
Until yesterday.
When at the infamous Crazy Days at the local department store, they had skeins for half off.
I got one.
Just the one.
I originally wanted to make socks, but as I have no need for them this year, I thought a shawl would be lovely.
because in this climate, you can never have enough shawls to warm your shoulders.
I wonder which I'll finish first?
