Lux Helsinki

Helsinki is the World Design Capital this year.
In my book that means loads of cool happenings I can attend with my camera :)

The year started off with Lux Helsinki, which meant lots of neat light displays around town, but mostly centered around the Töölönlahti-bay area.

I loved the tree shadows on Finlandia House.

And how kind of these two lovely swans to swim into the photo :) Click the pic bigger...

The park had all sorts of lanterns hanging in the trees.

What I liked most though, was the 15 minute continuos LED-light show on the Stadium tower.
With a laser on top.
Way cool.

I would have loved to stay longer and get a bit closer still, but the wind was vicious and after just 40 minutes I was frozen to the core.
And my camera operating fingers were pretty much numb :P

Lisa's going to Hogwarts :D

She's looking the part, isn't she?
I found a great site for AG-doll clothes patterns , they have a bunch of free patterns also :)

It's all about the hooded robe.

The hubby cleeaned out his closet of shirts he wasn't about to wear.
Perfect fabric for doll clothes!

There's the pleated skirt.

And a cute shirt.

And of course a wand!

I'm told I still need to knit a vest and scarf in Gryffindor colors.

And it looks like Lisa's had some sort of accident as she has a cast... oh dear.

Happy 2012!

I have to say it was much more comfortable watching the fireworks this year than the previous..
A year ago it was somewhere around -25C as opposed to the -0C this time around. No freezing toes to deal with :)

January brought us something white.

I liked how my lights were reflected on the snow.

It has since turned to the typical Helsinki slush, sigh.
And apparently more slush to arrive tonight.
You know, the kind of snowflakes that when they land on your face you hear a splat..
