..happy sigh..

 Even if this July has been mostly cool, you can still enjoy a good time with friends.

Thsi time we got together with some friends from work (present and former) to help out craft some wedding signs etc. 

I mean you can't but have a great time when you mix together pink sparkling wine, loads of cheeses and salad, strawberries, laughter, paint, paper punches, scissors and glue.

Topped with laughter and a beautiful location.

The design is by Nora Corbett at Mirabilia.. I love her mermaids.

The delicate shades of color achieved by combined threads, metallic shimmer and intricate beading.
She was finished quite a while ago, just waiting for the right wall to display her on.

As I went through my stash the past weeks, I came across the second mermaid I had forgotten about.

The Deepest Love.

I'm putting knitting aside for a while and working on finishing her.
I've always found cross-stitching quite relaxing.
This shouldn't take too long to finish.

I had a little look-see on other mermaid patterns.. yes, I seem to have to be thinking of the next one already.

Don't they look lovely?

Which should I choose?

A. The queen mermaid

B. Mermaid of the pearls

C. South sea mermaid

No..not all of them...

However I am leaning towards the two with more beadwork.

What do you think?

I promise to finish the other one first!

bzzzzzzzz.....

 That's the sound you hear in my garden right now..

It's buzzing with busy bees.

I love sitting and watching them being busy while I am on vacation.

Oh, how I love my peonies...

My favorites though are the pink and white foxgloves that pop up in new and surprising places around the garden each summer.

This white one is hiding in the lilac bush.. it's taller than I am!

 But if you thought either of these is the queen of my garden, you are mistaken.

If you have walked by my house this past week, the scent of the jasmine has hit you 30 meters before my gate.

 My Grandma would be so happy to see it thriving like this, it was always her favorite.

I think it was because it was in bloom right around her birthday (july 10th).

Midsummer zoology

I'm a bit backlogged with my photos.. :)

Midsummer's Eve we had a day at the local zoo. 

I'll let the pictures do the talking.

 They had had a sandcarving competition.

The detail on these is mind-blowing.

This coffee machine now resides in our kitchen.

I thought that too.

It's huge.

It grinds the beans and makes individual cups of coffee.

Makes a nice capuccino.

Meanwhile in the next room...

 The living room in the house next door has been taken over by our afternoon club legos.

I brought them home to wash.

They've gone through the washing machine now and Niina is thrilled.

That's a few bricks.

I took it on myself to find all missing limbs to legomen.

Somehow I have an excess of heads.. how's that possible?

Once the new legos we ordered for the club were delivered to the school, we picked them up, so our official test-builder could try them out.

How cool is that tower of lego boxes??!
