..still giggling...

Long day at work yesterday.
Had to stop at the supermarket on my way home along with half on Helsinki.. well I needed white wine for today's dinner and to pick up Julia's b-day present.. among other bits and pieces for dinner..
I come home hauling three big heavy bags, my feet aching, arms stretched to the limit and I find this on my front door..

Robbers' loot.. (kultaa= gold)

The girls' version of a April Fools joke.. they were dressed up like robbers (all in black, hoodies up, wearing gloves) tip toeing in the foyer all sneaky like..

Too cute.
Saara also managed to think up a genious prank for Mika.
Our freezer has been fixed twice as it had some problems keeping the temperature right. This in mind Saara crafted new temps with paint on black paper and taped them on top of the real temps on both the freezer and fridge.
In the photo you can see the real temp on top and Saara's mock-up below.

A quick glance and you wouldn't even notice there was anything unusual.

So when Mika was vacuuming I called out to him saying that the freezer temp was acting up again.
He swallowed it hook line and sinker!
Took him a few seconds to work it out :)
Gave us a good laugh...
High fives for that prank!

Sunday sewing

Noonish on Sunday my hands were itching to sew something..
But what?
I went online looking for inspiration and happened to find a tutorial for a cute owl on Moda Bake Shop.

I grabbed my pile of Marimekko fabric scraps and went to work.

While putting together the first one I decided it would be just as easy to make a second.. and then a third as the green fabrics were calling my name..

And here's the trio of owl cousins :)

Yes, cousins.
As three girlie cousins will be the owners.
From the left the 1st one is Saara's, the 2nd Niina's and the 3rd will be Julia's as a part of her 1st birthday present in a couple weeks.

I'm so glad owls are pop.

it's the time of year I start yearning for flowers

...I heard the blackbird singing yesterday.. spring must be close.
There is snow, but it is melting as you need rubberboots to cross the street..

I stopped by the garden center yesterday to bring some spring inside the house.

Tulips and daffodils.
Makes me happy.

I also bought some pretty succulents and planted those in the same planted with..

..white muscari.

So pretty.
I'm already planning what to plant outdoors for summer... I have images of dahlias and ranunculus along with anemones and climbing vines circling my head... I want big outdoor planters just brimming with colors and textures.
Saara's confirmation party is on August 7th (so if you are family or friends reading this, mark your calendars!) which also happens to be our 17th wedding anniversary. I'm planning a lovely outdoors party.. it better not rain LOL!

The definition of cute

Don't you agree?

My girls are completely smitten with their sweet little cousin.

They can't get enough of her.
And neither can I.
She is one super cute teeth making machine.
A month away from her 1st birthday.

I can't wait to see what this threesome gets to this coming summer when the little one has learned to walk :)

And as godmother I felt it was my duty to teach her how to high five :)

It's great to have little ones around.
It's always great fun to see the world through their eyes..
A reminder of the fact that the simple things tend to be the best ones.

What do you get when you take 39 1st graders to the natural History Museum?

Exhaustion...
Check.
Headache...
Check.

*grin*

It all started well... we admired the fabulous african elephant in the entry hall.

Some of us from unexpected angles :)
I love elephants.
Always have, always will.

The interior of the building is beautiful.

I always look up.

You never know what's up there...

But you know.. after a while I found myself admiring teeth.
Big teeth.

Bigger teeth.

And truly gigantic teeth.

I'm thinking this was when my headache started kicking in.. heh...
All in all a good day.

Some scrapbooking

These little brads are one of my favorite supplies...

I spent saturday scrapping.. got five layouts done, four for future Inspiroidu blog challenges :) (link is on the sidebar there)

But I do have some other ones I can show you all now.

-10 months-

I used the negative of some acrylic ghost shapes as background.

-art-

-tappins coach-

I still have some photos from our camp school trip to scrap...

-life is beautiful-

And live with no regrets..

-life is good-

The story behind this photo can be read here.
It's a good one.

Curioser and curioser...

Yes I am very much waiting for the new Alice in Wonderland movie.. it opens here this friday.
But amazingly the title of this post has nothing to do with Alice..
However it does have something to do with a rabbit.
Not sure if it was white..
..or late :)

Saara got me to look at our neighbor's roof by asking if those are rabbit tracks..

What? On the roof?
I got out my zoom lens and well, zoomed.
Yup, those sure look like rabbit tracks to me... but how did it ever get on the roof???

..and that looks like the place it slid off to roof...
Poor bunny.
Strange bunny.
..curioser and curioser...

Oh sweet KI.. how I love you..

So if you've ever seen any of my scrapbook pages it's pretty clear I've been a HUGE KI Memories paper fan since their very first collection.

Love at first sight.

And if you hadn't noticed that, well here are a few of my favorite pages featuring some of my favorite papers ever:

And yes.. I save every single minute scrap of these papers. In fact they have a box all of their own :)

Last week I got an email from Katy that got me very excited.
KI has released some of the classics in digital form!!!
And the best part is that the paper sets were just $2.00..

Well no.. in fact the best part is that they had the Ice Cream Parlor papers.
SCORE!

Now if they'd next release that pink flower paper I'd be over the moon... pretty please?
Yes I noticed they had it in green.. but I'd love the pink one.. perhaps I should just go ahead and purchase the Evergreen papers and fiddle with the hue of the paper..heh..
*grin*

mmm... I do owe some posts.. don't I?

Get ready to be blasted with several in the next few days.
A few of them today already.

I admit to being lazy... I always notice a level of low energy this time of year for a few weeks. Then the sun comes out and it's all good again.

Shall I start with the choir?
I've joined the choir for the school staff.
We don't take ourselves too seriously...

Our debut performance was at the Abi Show. In the Finnish high school system abis are the seniors. In February we have a day called Penkkarit. It's the day the abis leave the school. They have no further lessons, instead they have a few weeks study leave before their matriculation exams. But on this day they get to dress up weird/funny and throw candies to/at kids in the school. Our abis put together a show for the middle school kids and teachers.

Our choir did a surprise performance of ABBA's Knowing Me, Knowing You. With altered words to fit the occasion. We also made a test paper for the abis as a listening comprehension test... :P

I do not have live action footage for you, thankfully.
The song itself went alright, we got big applause when we all got our choreography going the same direction..LOL.. hey, we had only three rehearsals..and none with ALL of us there..

The main thing was we had fun.
Next we start rehearsing for the spring church..
..which means we may have to start taking ourselves seriously..damn..
