June- in a nutshell

One month of summer vacation behind us... already..wow.
You've seen some of what we've been up to.
But not all.
So here's an extra peek for you.

What do you do when it's hot and sticky?
You take advantage of the cool morning kitchen to bake something hot and sticky :)

Upside down apple tart... yum....

I enjoyed the view to a bird's nest on a branch nook in our horse chestnut tree, right outside my kitchen window.

One particular morning while making my morning tea, I glanced at the patio and ran to get my camera.

One of my poppies was opening and for a couple hours it looked like princess Leia.

*giggles*

I also baked a couple rhubarb pies using up my lovely stalks...

Did yo know that if you boil rhubarb for five minutes in a pot that has lost its shine, the acid turns it back to shining? True.

I've been taking in some beauties from outside.

I need more peonies... garden planning time.

The old feeding bottle the daisies are in was picked up at the Ann Arbor Antiques market... I miss that place. It was so fun browsing..

It's been great line-drying weather!

I threw in our quilts in one load.
Pure happiness!

I also threw in olive green dye in one load.

The sheet will be my tablecloth for the miniature fair, the doilies will.. aahh.. I won't tell you yet.. I'll show you in a couple weeks, once I get it ready and mailed to the recipient, ok?

I know she'll be reading this...

As for my purse.. it was white. And constantly dirty. Much better now.

New season carrots...

I roasted them with a maple syrup glaze. They were soooo good.

Julia getting a treat of chocolate.

Two pieces and she was w.i.r.e.d.

Dingdingdingdingding :)

One night past 11pm the girls and I got out some lightsticks and had a little fun...

More to come on this.
I've been working on that low shutter speed.

I've also been busy making mini things for the fair.

Here's a small sample.

My philosophy this year has been to use what I already have.

I've only allowed myself to purchase glue, paint and a few tiny glass bowls.
I've also finished many half ready items like this table with a mosaic top.

There'll be plenty of one of a kind items.

The best part, I'm 85% done. And the fair isn't until the 24th.

The weather in June was either HOT or rainy.

More hot than rainy.

This is the result of running through the sprinkler on the day I mowed the lawn.

Two of these flew by the other night.

I told Mika this is what I want to do on our 20th anniversary two years from now.

And there you have it.

June.

I'm of to clean my walk-in closet... sheesh.. you don't want to know.. or see.

We already sorted out Niina's first thing this am. Now there's a mountain of too small clothes on her floor and there were plenty of "oh I didn't remember I had THAT!"

Also Saara is due back within two hours.. she's been at camp for a week. The house has been strangely quiet...
